Painting crawler cranes/lattice boom parts

At Gouweleeuw, painting crawler cranes is part of our daily work. Painting crawler cranes is a profession in its own right and at Gouweleeuw we are one of the few in the world that have the capacity and expertise to paint large crawler cranes. Are you planning to purchase a crawler crane? Then you can have it painted with us in the desired colours.

We can take care of transport from the harbour to Gouweleeuw and put the painted crane back on the boat. You can have your crawler crane shipped to the ports below via the port closest to you:

  • Port of Rotterdam (NL) -> Gouweleeuw (2 hours)
  • Port of Antwerp (BE) -> Gouweleeuw (2 hours)
  • Bremerhaven (DE) -> Gouweleeuw (3 hours)

In addition, we offer a complete service package for painting crawler cranes, including disassembly, cleaning, repair, preparation, blasting, flame galvanising, painting, assembly and lettering.

Gouweleeuw now has more than 30 years of experience in painting crawler cranes. Below we share a couple of projects of crawler cranes / lattice boom parts that we have painted in recent years in our paint shop.

Tadano CC 8800-1

Painting a CC8800-1 crawler crane proves that no project is too big for Gouweleeuw! In the video we share the process of painting this crawler crane. Unique in our work process is that we are able to transport all parts of the crawler crane internally with our own means of transport. We also have an internal lifting capacity of up to 50 tonnes!

All parts of the Tadano CC 8800-1 were brought to our locations in Emmeloord with dozens of trucks. All the heavy equipment of this crawler crane has been cleaned in our washing facility, prepared by means of sanding and finally painted with a new coat of paint.

Liebherr LG-1550

We have restored a Liebherr LG-1550 for our client Allelys (England). We have documented the entire process in a video where you can see how this large crane was “brought back to life”. Watch the video and see the result of our craftsmanship! On delivery we put the crane back on the boat to England.

We are very happy that the owner of Allelys is enthusiastic about our services. Their review stated the following:

‘I would like to thank Micha and his team for once again completing a mammoth task in a short period of time. At all times we were updated with progress and any unexpected items were dealt with quickly and professionally.

Gouweleeuw do not wash their hands when painting is completed, instead they make every effort to assist with transport arrangements to enable us to ship back to the UK quickly and simply. We have always found the quality of the work and the additional assistance from Gouweleeuw to be excellent but the speed of turn round is the big positive for us, these assets tie up a lot of capital and the longer they are off the road the more revenue lost, therefore it is no contest when looking at a crane refinisher!’

Tadano CC 3800-1

For our client Osprey Group we painted a CC 3800-1 crawler crane consisting of, among other things, the basic machine and more than 400 meters of mast sections.

Osprey Group is very pleased with our services and says the following:

 ‘Great to see our 650-ton Demag CC3800-1 crawler crane painted and getting ready to be added to our fleet. It’s fully compliant with the NRMM emission controls for major projects within London and the HS2 Project, and is already scheduled to support our clients. Thanks Micha Gouweleeuw – she looks great.’
